the tragedy of borrow and spend.

since these days economy is the hot topic, i have my ideas too.
most of the economics is pretty simple, provided you steer clear of broken window fallacy.

The current trouble in Greece are simply result of decades of socialism where government bureaucrats, labour unions, and crony capitalists loot the national wealth and government simply borrows and spends to keep its votaries happy who return the favour ....mostly at election time.

the citizenry pays for this loot in terms of increased inflation, lower living standard, culture of graft and corruption.

It used to be similar story in India, which was similarly brought in her knees during balance of payment crisis in 1991.

History definitely rhymes.
